Natural childbirth is what every woman had up until a few generations ago. There were no options for handling pain back in the day, or interventions to make labor go by faster. Women used to know how to give birth, because when a child came into the world, they had already been part of the process in one way or another.
This used to be my understanding of what giving birth meant, and I felt encouraged by this thought. But when I found out I was pregnant for the first time, I realized that I did not have this knowledge women once possessed, and that I had to find a way to obtain it.
Then, I came across The Bradley Method®… and it had me at ‘hello’! It made sense all around: understand how your body works and provide it with the right nutrients, learn exercises that will prepare you for the athletic event that childbirth is, and practice with someone who will be there with you all along.
Not long after becoming a mom, I decided to get certified as a Bradley Method® teacher. My goal was, and continues to be, to provide anyone who is interested in having a natural birth with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions for themselves, and their babies.
