In January of 1996 my husband and I enrolled in BRADLEY classes, we were four months pregnant with our first child. It wasn’t the birth we had planned for and ended in a cesarean section. The experience was a good one for us, a healthy baby and a healthy mom. The labor was long and stressful, yet we knew what choices and options were available to us because of what we had learned in our BRADLEY classes.


In 1997, when my son was nine months old, I decided that I wanted to become a BRADLEY instructor.


Then we had three more wonderful children. Our second son was my first VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), 9lbs, 11 1/2 oz. Our following birth was our third son; at 39 weeks a breech baby that was turned externally; a seven hour unmedicated birth. Finally, there was our daughter a surprise pregnancy labored in the tub, a three-hour natural birth.


My 27 years of teaching, our births and the numerous hospital, birthing center and home and land/water births that I have attended have been valuable learning experiences to share with my students. My belief is that mother and coach’s active participation in pregnancy and birth will help create an incredible journey for the years of parenthood ahead.

The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth standard series is designed for small classes with lots of individual attention. The standard length of the classes is 12 weeks covering 12 units of instruction. The Official Student Workbook is supplied to every couple attending classes. It is 130 pages with over 75 pictures and illustrations. A Coach Card is also included. Your local instructor in The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth is an independent affiliated instructor. Some classes are video enriched and offer a Certificate of Congratulations.
