I knew I wanted to be a Bradley® teacher right after I gave birth to my daughter
in 2015. My husband and I had used The Bradley Method® to prepare, and we had the most amazing
water birth. It was the best day of our lives! I was so proud of myself for achieving
my birth goals, and I loved how we worked together as a couple. We used the
same techniques again for my son’s birth in 2018. These babies were born without
medication and on their own terms. I felt strong and empowered during my
births, and I want all women to have the same positive experience.
I graduated from Duke University with degrees in English and
cultural anthropology. I became a high school English teacher and loved
engaging with students. I am a lifelong learner and an academic, so during my
first pregnancy I read everything I could find about birth. I am passionate
about keeping up to date with evidence-based information and keeping my childbirth
students informed. Even though I’ve switched from teaching Brontë to Bradley, my goal remains the
same: Give students the confidence and knowledge to achieve their goals.
